What is an Instagram Post Dark Mode mockup?

This template renders an Instagram feed post exactly as it appears when the viewer is using Instagram’s dark theme - with the dark background, light text, and the post image displayed against the dark interface.

It’s the dark-mode version of the Instagram Post (Light) template.

Why check posts in dark mode?

The post image itself is unaffected by dark mode - your uploaded creative will look the same. What changes is everything around it: the background, the caption text, the username, the action bar icons and the comment text all render differently.

For posts with overlaid text or graphics that extend to the edges of the image, or for posts with white or very light backgrounds, the transition to dark mode can look unexpected. A post with a white background sits uneasily against Instagram’s dark feed background - the contrast is harsh in a way that the light mode view doesn’t reveal.

When to use this template

• Posts with light-coloured or white backgrounds - check whether the lack of blending into the feed looks intentional or jarring
• Text-heavy graphics - verify that text treatments that look clean in light mode still work with a dark backdrop
• Campaign content - include a dark mode preview in client presentations to demonstrate you’ve accounted for all viewing conditions
